FGU «VNIIIMT» Roszdravnadzora – one of the first state expert establishments in Russia.

State establishment of Science “All-Russian Scientific, Research and Testing Institute for Medical Devices”, founded by Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation by the order from May, 5th 1999г. № 152, has been renamed into Federal State Institution “All-Russian Scientific, Research and Testing Institute for Medical Devices” (abbr. FGU “VNIIIMT”) of Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development, and it has been transferred to a subordinate jurisdiction of Federal Service on Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development according to the Government Executive Order of the Government of the Russian Federation from January, 17th 2005г. № 32-P

The goal of the institution is scientific, scientific and technical activity directed on obtaining and application of new knowledge, increase in the volume and efficiency of use of knowledge for achievement of the practical purposes and the solution of specific technological, engineering, social and other problems in the sphere of public health services of the Russian Federation in development of new medical devices, medical technologies and treatment methods, and also activity in the field of standardization, metrological support, conformity assessment of/with regulatory documents, various kinds of tests (toxicological, technical and others), the control of efficiency and safety of use of medical devices.  

The institute has received wide recognition during its 58 years of activity, has reached impressive results in development of the high technology medical devices and in effective utilization of scientific and technical and innovative potential. Achievements of employees FGU “VNIIIMT” are noted by State awards. Having stepped over the 55-year-old anniversary, the institute’s team is full of determination to keep up and increase its scientific and technical experience, which is able to fulfill tasks of difficult state problems that domestic public health services face. With that end in view, FGU “VNIIIMT” carries out the big list of fundamental and applied studies in the field of development of medical devices and medical technologies. Significant section of the activity of the institute is monitoring within the limits of realization of the priority national project "Health".

Today, a large team of highly skilled experts works within the institute, among which are 7 doctors of sciences, 20 candidates of sciences (PhD’s), 5 academicians (members of the Academy of Sciences).

 Over semicentenial career of the team consists of development and implementation of new medical devices in practical public health services for the benefit of strengthening the health of the population of the Russian Federation.
